Charles Review: The Moustache's King



Hoopa Gamers!

SmileGate is definitely giving us a lot of new releases / Hunts 11 units lately, but Charles overall utility is freaking good everywhere.

Not only amazing for Banshee 11 and guild wars against heavy buffs teams, he is the perfect support to six stars for new players.

Charles brings team attack buff, freaking dispels ratio, attack debuff and self-sustain himself with a defence buff - plus, he owns the biggest moustache in the game.


The PROS:

- Love the animes.

- Versatile across PvE and PvP. Specially good in Banshee 11 and Guild Wars.

- One of the best single target Dispeller in the game - amazingly good on counter set / artefact.

- S3 is a team attack buff and a self defence buff for 2 turns. Soulburn it to extend buff duration by 1 turn! When there are three or fewer enemies, damage dealt increases as enemies become fewer. A good Guild Wars bonus.

- S2 has 80-100% chance to dispel all buffs on a enemy. Damage dealt increases proportional to number of buffs granted to the caster.

- S1 has 50-60% chance to land attack debut for one turn. 25% to activate s2, effect chance is doubled if the enemy is buffed!


The CONS:

- Has a low attack base.


The SET:

Speed or Counter / Critical or Hit or Life or Immunity.

For overall use, Speed / Hit.

For specific PvP we prefer Counter / Immunity with Speed Boots, HP% Ring and Critical Damage% necklace if you can get decent critical chance %.

Otherwise go for full HP% to use him only for attack buff / dispel as a support.


The early STATS (based on average 70 level+ epic gears, maxed at 15):

- Speed: 170+

- Attack: 2K+

- Def: 800+

- HP: 12K+

- Critical Chance: 70%+

- Critical Damage: a great bonus, he can deal substantial damage if you manage CDM on Necklace.

- Effectiveness: you want at least 50% to ensure a consistent dispel.


The ARTEFACTS:

- Elbris Ritual Sword: 10-20% chance to counterattack when an ally is attacked.

Very good for PvP, even if you already have a Counter set.

- Hilag Lance: Increases Combat Readiness by 5- 10% when an ally is attacked by a Single Attack.

Usually good for Knights, but only if you have decent speed / above 170+ - otherwise to little gain.

- Aurius: Increases the Defense of allies by 10%, and takes 10-20% of the damage suffered by them. Does not overlap with an Artifact providing the same effect.

This is ideal for a Tank Charles to ensure he can absorb the damage.

- Justice for All: Grants the caster a random buff for 1 turn with a 50-100% chance at the end of the turn.

Actually this is pretty good (random) addition.


- Joker/Tonfa: For PvE.


How to counter a Charles in PvP:

1. As usual, any fast opener with CD reduction --> Stun--> Silence in that order to avoid his s3.

2. The perfect counter: a fast Basar to land buff cancel.


Overall, early on you prefer Charles a a pure tank / support with maximum speed and some counter (set/artefact) if possible. Later on, you can invest a bit more on his critical chance and damage.

Charles is a support, not a DPS at first - there are much better Earth type DPS if that is what you are looking for (Yuffine, Cidd, Bellona, etc).

He is incredibly good in both Abyss / Raids and he triggers often his s1 into s2 - an amazing dispeller.
