Angelic Montmorancy Review: Meta Purification

The latest Specialty Change, Angelic Montmorancy brings a high volume of dispel and immunity on very low cooldowns.

First we have to say she is a wonderful early / mid-game soulweaver for those looking for their PvE progression and don't have a Tama / Angie / Achates yet. She will do very well in Abyss, excellent against few Raid bosses, early Wyvern decent and a late Banshae 11 and Azi11 solution.

After reading her skills and her 40% resistance once Skill Tree maxed, we all went up to the roof thinking she could be a PvP counter Meta to fast ML Ara, ML Baal or Dizzy.

We used her in Legend ranks and she is actually a great counter.. BUT she needs hell of a gear, the right team composition and works only against very few specific set ups.

Now, before to get into the depth and some end game stats we played with: we want to remind you that any specialty change requires some heavy investment in terms of time, staminas and also runes for that maxed Skill Tree.

So your first question should be: is AM a real addition to your game or not, as she is not an irreplaceable unit (other AOE cleansers out there) or a must depending your current heroes / gears list.

If you have golden speed stats and the relevant cleave comp / units, you won't probably need a AM / stall offence to climb up.

The PROS:

- Can counter specific teams in current PvP meta.

- Great Def and decent HP stats.

- Has 40%+ resistance once Skill Tree Maxed.

- As most SC, she has very low skills cooldown.

- A perfect first solution for players who need a healer for any PvE, including very good later for their Banshee and Azi Hunts.

- Can counter few specific team composition in current end-game meta.

- S3 recovers ally’s Health and grants immunity for 2 turns, dispelling 2 debuffs. Also increases caster's Combat Readiness by 50%. Amount recovered is proportional to the target’s max Health. Soulburn : Effect is granted to all allies. (-20 Souls)

- S2 dispels one debuff from all allies, and heals debuffed allies. Amount recovered is proportional to the ally's max Health. Only 2 turn cooldown!

- S1 Attack the enemy with water energy, with a 25% chance to put them to sleep for 1 turn.

Don't bet on it.

The CONS:

- Low speed stats.

- As any SC, you need to max the Skill Tree for full efficiency = lots of time and resources.

- Need crazy op gears and stats to be able to stand up from Champion ranks.

- Her healing is based on ally's max HP, which means she is not optimal paired with your squishy DPS - need some bruisers / tanks buddies.

- She still require lots of HP and Res investment to be a viable frontliner tank solution for your Wyvern / PvE or to be of great use in your PvP.

- In PvP offence, she need to be paired with a Mage wearing Tagahel's Tome maxed to be able to soulburn her S3 and cleanse every allies on turn one to counter metas - otherwise you have to believe your team can absorb a first opponent turn.

The SET:

For PvE use, you will go for Speed / Life to give her some sustain.

Speed boots, HP% on both ring and necklace.

End Game PvP: you will go for Speed / Life (recommended) or Res or Immu with Speed boots, Resistance Ring and HP% necklace. A must.

The early STATS for PvE with HP% ring and neck (based on average 70 level+ epic gears, maxed at 15 with full skill tree):

- Speed: 165+.

- HP: 11K+

- DEF: 900+

- Res: 60%.

All other stats are a bonus.

End game stats: About 185+ speed with 14K HP / 1,2K Def / 150% res or 170+ speed / 18K HP / 1,2K def / 100% res are the stats we played with in Champion / Legend ranks. It was decent against some very specific comp with no other strong DPS threat except ML Ara.

The 150% res build offered much more efficiency in high end arena, but the 14K Hp was sometimes limit squishy for her to survive against double DPS type of comps.

The ARTEFACTS:

- Magahara's Tome: Increases the caster's Combat Readiness by 15-30% when using a skill that does not attack enemies.

Very good on AM, only if she has 170+ speed and best maxed.

- Rod of Amaryllis: Heals the ally with the lowest Health by 12-24% when using a non-attack skill.

Same, very good option for her.

- Prophetic Candlestick: Awesome. 20-40% chance to reduce cooldown by 1 turn when attacked. Can be activated once per turn.

Perfect in frontliner position in PvE and can work very well in PvP against the AOE metas. She can then cleanse every turn.

- Idol's Cheer: When attacked, increases Combat Readiness of the ally with the highest Attack by 10-20%.

- Potion Vial: 50-100% chance to dispel one debuff from an ally at the beginning of the turn.

If you think it is a over-dispel option, actually it does well the job against all those debuffs in PvP and especially for Banshae 11.

Overall, it all depends which units you are pairing her with.

Her Good Buddies:

- For PvP offence, any mage with Tagehel's Tome maxed is great to soulburn her s3 on first turn.

- Overall, better to pair her with bruisers for the damage as she heals on ally's max HP.

The Verdict:

Few of us six starred her only to complete the new Adventure content and to use her in Banshee / Azi - which she is perfect for. Also Hell Karkanis. She is very good at PvE in Abyss and few Raids.

If you don't have a Tamarrine / Angelica yet, we highly recommend AM for your PvE progression.

Now is she a counter Meta PvP? Well, with that kind of quality gears and set ups she requires - we feel like it will be better to set those gems on SS Achates or Ruele if you won the ML lotery.

But yes, she can definitely get you some victories up to the Legend ranks against very specific team compositions.

Now there are also others AOE cleansers out there who can do the job: Achates (we reviewed her here), Destina or even Dingo are already famous solutions. So once again, she isn't irreplaceable to counter the current meta / or as soul weaver for your PvE progression.
