Assassin Cartuja has been for a longtime the number one favourite unit since the game has been launched in Korea. Why? His passive gives 15% evasion chance to all allies - and every time an opponent misses an attack on him, it gives him up to 10-15% CR increase once s2 maxed.
So you can think 15% evasion chance is very little, but when it triggers: damage is closed to null. UPSET is real..
After the amazing collaboration event and new heroes release, Assassin Cartuja remains in top tiers unit in the PvP meta.
The PROS:
- A fantastic frontliner / tank anywhere in the game. 100% versatility. Brings utility debuffs, tankiness and open the road for damage with his s3 def break / stun.
- s3 skill is a one turn stun with 2 turns def break - on a 4 CDs.
- s2 passive increases Evasion Chance of all allies by 10-15% .
When the turn ends, successfully evades the next attack once.
Combat Readiness increases by 10% each time evading the enemy's attack.
- s1 Burn, that additional damage / debuff is precious.
- Except his speed, all base stats are above average.
- Easy to build with your first Abyss / Lifesteal sets reward at first.
- His design / anime / voice are terrific / fun to run with ;)
The CONS:
- His low Speed base.
- Can be countered by immunity buffs.
- Sometimes his passive won't trigger.
The SET:
Early game, Assassin Cartuja will be easier to build on Lifesteal / Crit.
You can replace Crit set by whatever you like (HP/Immunity/Res/Broken) once you reached 75%+ crit. With his chance to increase his CR on each opponent attack, it makes him attack more often -> heal faster.
Use Speed Boots and Attack% on both ring and necklace.
Spoiler from the top tiers players who don't want you to know:
End game PvP Assassin Cartuja is Speed and whatever help you reach 190+ speed / 13-16K+ HP / high efficiency (60%+). Usually we built those with Speed Boots and one HP% and on Att% main stat on either Ring or Necklace.
This must come with a Durandal artefact (ideally 30+ maxed) and we like the Immunity or Resistance set as the goal is for him to be pushed and cut in between on first turn.
For maximum efficiency, you prefer his s2 fully maxed.
The early STATS on Lifesteal (based on average 70 level+ gears, maxed at 15):
- Speed: 155+ with speed boots
- Att: 2,5K+, bleeds scale on it, and it is the edge giving you victory sometimes in tense PvP or Hunts/PvE, very useful for Wyvern.
- Def: 800+
- HP: 11K+
- Crit chance: 75%+
- Crit Damage: any additional damage is a real bonus.
- Effectiveness: 45%+ is a nice benchmark to ensure debuffs apply.
The ARTEFACTS:
Durandal, all day long and everywhere. Durandal helps him to increase drastically his CR, deal more damage / more heal on Lifesteal for sustain and more s3 rotations.
Sigurd Scythe for survivability and Hell Cutter for crit/att burst are great too.
The PvP breakdown:
Usually players in PvP will have 2 options in front of a Ass Cartuja. One, they take the risk to nuke him first and pray to avoid a miss. Two, will keep him for the last in knowing the battle is going to be a hassle because of his passive.
In both case scenario, Durandal, Lifesteal or Speed and the mentioned stats above will make him become a good threat.
How to counter a Assassin Cartuja in PvP:
1. You can see right at start of battle if he wears Durandal artefact. If he does, either you have a solid def break / Dps nuke team - otherwise don't touch him, keep him for last.
2. Use a tanky light unit as bait with relevant HP pool: Doris or Arrowel early on. If they have high res or a immunity set better.
3. Later on, best light tank baits: Fighter Maya , ML Armin or General Puurgis (for team CR push).
4. Angelica or any immunity buffer / debuffs cleaner with reasonable speed.
***Important***:
Assassin Cartuja has an ensured evasion one time only AFTER he uses a skill.
Meaning after you attack him once, you could probably land a critical hit on the second attack before he takes his turn again - assume you will potentially land a crit with your second unit during your turn!
So plan wisely in anticipating his CR boost, when he is done with his turn you could even hit first with your Soulweaver just to ensure your DPS behind can land damage.
Warning: Don't bet too much on a stun or silence strategy: Ass Cart passive helps him to avoid debuffs. Thus said, the hard cooldowns reset as per Judge Kise / Kise / Adlay works well on him if they go first.
We score him high because he fits anywhere in any team comps. He is your frontliner / tank in any scenario, hands down. You can even consider him for your first/safe PVE completion.
