Another Eden Review: Top-Notch Production

Updated: Feb 20, 2019

Hoopa Gamers!

Another Eden is a single player / wonderful classic RPG Gatcha mobile game released globally* with an impressive production cast>

Its rich musical atmosphere and storyline offers a flawless gameplay which makes you feel being a "Traveler" immediately.

A RPG game of that extended scale of exploration and production quality, is like having one of those greatest 90's hits console titles on your mobile.

Outstanding works really, and nearly 3 Giga just to install it on your device. The data size speaks by itself.

Masato Kato is the scenario director, script writer and concept artist - a very well know Japanese video game artist who worked on franchises like Final Fantasy, Ninja Gaiden and Chrono series.

For the main musical theme, Masako's longtime friend Yasunori Mitsuda brings some epic opera compositions.

If those two names tell you nothing, we had titled it in few words for you: top-notch production.

The STORY:

You will start the adventure as Aldo, a young guardian living in Antics times and suddenly giving the abilities to travel in between time and spaces. Your quest will be to solve the mystery surrounding the use of elemental orbs, which are disrupting the quantum space into a lost future.

Across the past, present and future, you will travel many worlds and find new companions on the way to face difficult challenges.

Masato and Yasunori managed to bring that feeling of adventure, friendship and soul researches you could find in any successful RPG's series. Yes, it is a very classic tone and narration which will sound very familiar to the nostalgics of the FF's type of series. And to be honest, it has been a longtime we were waiting for such game with a steady storyline.

The GAMEPLAY:

All the great ingredients of a winning classic RPG, from interacting with villagers for quests to sleeping a night in a hotel to recharge your HP/Mana. Usual elemental advantages and buff/debuffs combat system with different class of heroes (mage / healer / archer, etc).

You have a party of 6 characters total, 4 active characters and 2 on the Reserve. At any moment, you can switch in a Reserved unit into your main team to provide a special ability.

You will unlock Skills and Abilities after each characters level reached.

Without spoiling too much, you will be also able to obtain " Another Force " which will allow your party for a short amount of time to have unlimited skills use and recovering.

At the start, you will find the mechanic very simple, it is a one turn combat based. But as you upgrade your heroes, you will find more subtlety to your strategy during (tough) bosses fight.

Some farming awaits you, but it is enjoyable as you won't be in a repetitive loop of grinding few unique stages: you can grow your heroes across multiple side-stories and quests.

About the navigation, each world is like an open map with no loading interruption. Traveling through quests will be flawless across your screen. The main content are in between endless map and later on, you will unlock dungeons.

The GRAPHICS:

AE's design is highly polished and once you upload / play the game live: the dynamic of the animation is astonishing in between background, filters effect, camera movements and front character design. It all feels very smooth, well detailed and the color balancing is so pleasing to the eyes.

We are originally not too fan about Chibbis games, but here the proportion are not too chubby.

The PROS:

- All the above.

- An amazing F2P large scale RPG with countless hours of playing ahead, with no stamina recharge system.

The CONS:

- The user interface / typo feels a bit odd.

- You can't skip conversations, some quests stories can be a bit on the cheesy / lengthy side.

The SHOULD I PLAY IT OR NOT:

Yes, if you are currently tired of your Gatcha repeating farming / grinding stages and want to breathe with an inspiring storyline while your stamina is refilling..

Yes, if you have never played a RPG Gatcha on mobile.

Yes, if you are a nostalgic of any great RPG like FF or Dragon Quest.

Yes, if you are a F2P or a whale.

No, if you are looking for a game with 3D, last technology graphics and are bored to read a storyline made of good will and condescending lines on a mobile game.

The Beginners Top 5 Tips:

1. Save your stones early on until your reach 1000 stones for a 10 characters summon. That way you can potentially pull a 4 or 5 stars unit.

2. Don't forget to upgrade your skills and abilities each time your unit is levelling up.

3. From the start, gather all side quests before to go on maps and complete them all to obtain XP and stones.

4. About Tiers List, few 3 stars are viable units - but you will find out later than 4-5 stars have higher abilities to complete end-game dungeons. So go on Discord to ask the community before to level up any character you like.

5. Check out online the required level before to jump into a Boss fight from main story - most of the time, they will be tougher than expected. Also, coming with the right elemental unit and level will help you to avoid using 50 stones to ressuscité your team each time you die in a Boss fight.

Our TAKE:

We are loving it so much, we will very soon introduce a Tiers List and Character Reviews dedicated to Another Eden. To compare to other RPG gatcha, AE brings and focus heavily on its steady storyline with scenes cuts you actually enjoy reading, and not skipping as most other games.
